Rahimi: ‘ Syria will Overcome Enemy Plots and Emerge Victorious’

Iran’s First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Rahimi, has said the Syrian nation will overcome enemy plots and schemes and will emerge victorious.
Speaking on Tuesday in Tehran in a meeting with Syrian prime minister, Wael al Halqi, First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Rahimi emphasized that the Zionist regime, the United States of America, and the West have all united to harm the Syrian nation and the Syrian government .
Rahimi pointedly added: “The Syrian people and the Syrian government will overcome enemy plots , and they will emerge victorious”.
In further remarks, Iran’s First Vice President said Iran and Syria have common objectives, common ideals and common enemies , adding :“Our common enemies have coordinated their moves and have plotted against both nations, Iran and Syria, but the resilience and determination of the Iranian and Syrian nations will scupper (foil) the plots of the arrogant enemies”.
Turning to a recent peace initiative by the Syrian president Bashar al-Assad , Rahimi said Iran backs any peace initiative which has the backing of the Syrian people, and which will halt the fighting in Syria, and preserve the country’s territorial integrity”.
For his part, Syrian prime minister, Wael al Halqi thanked Iran for its support of the Syrian nation and the Syrian government, and expressed confidence that Syria will emerge victorious and will defeat enemy plots and schemes . Wael al Halqi also called for closer economic and trade ties between Tehran and Damascus.
