Zionist Troops Conduct Incursion in Syria’s Beit Jann, Resulting in Civilian Arrests and Fatalities
Zionist forces have intensified their operations within Syrian borders, executing their most profound incursion to date into the southwestern countryside of Damascus.

The Israeli Army Radio has reported that units from the Alexandroni Brigade conducted an overnight operation infiltrating the Syrian village of Beit Jann. The village, situated roughly 10 kilometers from the occupied border, was the site of a raid resulting in the detention of multiple Syrian individuals. These individuals were apprehended under accusations of “involvement in terrorism.”
Local sources have verified to Al Mayadeen that the recent operation marks the most significant intrusion by occupation forces into the southwestern Damascus countryside in recent years. Furthermore, it is the first confirmed deployment of Israeli troops in the neighborhoods of Beit Jann.
Tensions have escalated in the region after a local resident was killed by Israeli fire on Thursday morning. This incident has sparked calls for a mass demonstration in Beit Jann during the funeral procession, with residents protesting against the killings and incursions.
According to sources, a targeted individual was fatally shot during a confrontation at a local event, allegedly after resisting arrest. The Israeli army had reportedly announced the names of ten wanted individuals over loudspeakers prior to detaining seven and killing one.
Israeli forces have increased their presence by deploying reinforcements from military positions on Qars al-Nafil hill, located north of Hadar in the Quneitra countryside, as well as from the Hamra Hills, which act as a divide between Beit Jann and Hadar.
These developments indicate the possibility of a more extensive military operation, potentially expanding past a simple cross-border incursion.
Local sources indicate that this operation represents the most extensive Israeli ground incursion into southwestern Damascus since the former Syrian armed opposition lost control of the region. Military analysts suggest that this could denote a notable change in Israel’s strategic approach on the Syrian front.
Sources reported that the occupation forces had previously identified a group of young men suspected of being associated with Palestinian Resistance cells active in the area.
According to information provided to Al Mayadeen, authorities are actively seeking groups supportive of Palestinian resistance within the specified region and are preparing to initiate additional operations in the upcoming days.
The latest incursion by Israeli forces comes on the heels of increased military operations in the southern Quneitra countryside, where advancements were made into the town of al-Rafid. The Israeli military also confirmed the deployment of a drone strike on Beit Jann, intensifying the already tense situation in southern Syria.
Sources from Syria have indicated that on Wednesday, helicopters, suspected to be of American origin, executed a dawn airdrop mission in the Jab al-Bishri territory, located within the desert expanse of western Deir Ezzor.
Sources report that U.S. military personnel conducted an inspection of the al-Shujairi mosque prior to its demolition, as well as assessments of several nearby locations.
The United States has announced plans to substantially decrease its military footprint in Syria, consolidating its presence from eight bases to just one located in al-Hasakah province. This decision, relayed by US Special Envoy Thomas Barrack, was disclosed during an interview with the Turkish network NTV. Barrack characterized the reduction as a key element of a wider strategic adjustment in the US approach to Syria.
“Our present approach to Syria will not resemble that of the past century, as none have proven effective,” he stated.
In a related update, Syria TV has broadcast that Israeli forces penetrated the village of al-Qahtaniyah, located in the countryside of Quneitra province. According to reports, the troops moved among residential areas and along streets, discharging shots into the air.
