Barzani Acknowledges Iran’s Pivotal Role in Combatting ISIL

Nechirvan Barzani, the head of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, stated that Iran was the initial nation to provide assistance in combating the ISIL terrorist group.

During an address at the 4th Tehran Dialogue Forum, hosted at the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was highlighted that the Islamic Republic of Iran was at the forefront in the resolute effort to dismantle the ISIL terrorist group.

Following the visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Erbil, Iraq, there has been a notable expansion and development in bilateral relations across various levels, he noted.

An expert-level meeting is slated to take place shortly in Sanandaj, located in Iran’s Kordestan province, he stated.

Barzani made his way to Tehran late Saturday to participate in the Fourth Tehran Dialogue Forum (TDF).

The Iranian Foreign Ministry is convening the Tehran Dialogue Forum (TDF) with the involvement of 200 delegations, featuring high-ranking officials from 53 nations.
