Bolivia calls on negotiations with Chile over disputed Calama region

Bolivian President Evo Morales has again made calls for negotiations between his country and Chile over the disputed Calama region.

The disputed Calama region in north eastern Chile once belonged to Bolivia before being annexed by Chile 138 years ago with the blessing of the British Empire.

Meanwhile, thousands of people participated in a civic-military parade in Sucre on Thursday, to commemorate the defence of Calama during the War of Pacific.

Day’s ago, the Bolivian president explained on his twitter how the port of Antofagasta in northern Chile was illegally taken in 1879 and how the repercussions of this humiliation is still felt in 2017.
