Hakim Praises Iran’s Constructive Role in Preventing Regional Problems

Head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq Ammar al-Hakim praised Iran for its constructive and influential role in preventing and resolving different crises and problems in the region.

Hakim made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Tehran on Tuesday, during which he also briefed the Iranian president on the latest development and problems in his country.

He called Iran a country with constructive and effective role in preventing emergence of crises and different problems in the region.

President Ahmadinejad, for his part, said that enemies of humanity are following long-term goals in the region of Middle East and are trying to change situation in their own favor.

He said that the goal of the hegemonic powers in the region is to save the Zionist regime.
Ahmadinejad went on to say that regional developments should be considered with an international view, adding that in current situation, when hegemonic powers are in decline and are trying to ruin obstacles in the way of their dominance on the world, independent and justice seeking countries should not allow this to happen.

Governments and nations of the region should be aware of the situation and use all their efforts and abilities to reach independence, freedom, justice and honor.

He said that enemies have done everything to prevent Iranians’ progress and stressed that Iran is a big country with many possibilities and talents that nobody can stop this nation.

Many regional and international leaders have always underlined Iran’s effective and constructive role in the establishment of security and solving problems in the region.

Yesterday, the UN-Arab League Special Envoy on Syria, Kofi Annan, reiterated Iran’s key and irreplaceable role in finding a solution to the crisis in Syria, and noted that he has come to Iran to seek Tehran’s help and cooperation for the settlement of the Syrian issue.

“I have come to the region to find a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis,” Annan said in a joint press conference with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi here in Tehran on Tuesday.

“I am seeking Iran’s support and cooperation with my efforts to resolve the crisis peacefully,” Annan underscored.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs who are clearly supported and financed by Washington, Ankara, Tel Aviv, London, Paris, Berlin, Arab regimes.

The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.

In October, calm was eventually restored in the Arab state after President Assad started a reform initiative in the country, but Israel, the US and its Arab allies are seeking hard to bring the country into chaos through any possible means. Tel Aviv, Washington and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots in the hope of stirring unrests in Syria once again.

Few West-backed hardline Arab states, including Qatar and Saudi Arabia, advocate arming Syrian rebels and calling for Assad’s departure, while the rest of the Arab and Muslim world want to see a political solution.
