Iran Develops Petrovorous Bacteria

B0703668A university professor announced that the microbial powder of petrovorous bacteria has been produced for the first time in the country.

Speaking in an interview with the oil ministry’s website, Saeed Mirzaei, also a researcher at Shahid Beheshti University, explained that oil extraction is always accompanied with wastes.

“Petrovorous bacteria are capable of removing these wastes,” he said, adding that the wastes are not decomposed easily in the nature.

“In case of oil leak or oil spill into sea, these petrovorous bacteria could be used to remove pollution,” he said.

Mirzaei had earlier announced that Iranian researchers at Shahid Beheshti University have designed and developed log master software used in the oil industry.

He said the software is a must in the oil industry as the country is facing sanctions on its energy sector.
