Breaking: Syrian Army kicks-off powerful pincer assault to split east Damascus pocket into 3 parts

The Syrian Army has kicked-off its long awaited assault to split rebel-controlled areas of Damasucs’ East Ghouta region into three parts and isolate various militant groups from one another.

Initiated in the last hour, the pincer attack by the Syrian Army is witnessing the elite Tiger Forces Division advance from the eastern direction through the town of Masraba on one hand and units of 4th Mechanized Division push from the western direction via the district of Harasta on the other hand.

The assault is being made under cover of heavy shelling from Syrian Army howitzer and rocket artillery units aimed at flattening rebel defenses and suppressing militant fire support assets (i.e. counter-battery fire).

The objective, according to sources, is to isolate Douma and Harasta from one another and then so both areas from the rest of the East Ghouta pocket further south
