Rouhani Moving Ahead

A1142556 (1)The Iranian Interior Ministry’s Elections Headquarters announced that partial vote count is giving Hassan Rouhani a wider lead in the presidential race.

Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said Rouhani has 11,754,013 votes out of a total of 22,224,364 counted.

His main rival Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has secured 3,494,938 votes.

According to Najjar, former Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Commander and current Expediency Council Secretary Mohsen Rezayee Mir-Qaed has won 2,723,202 votes ranking 3rd in the race for the Islamic Republic’s presidential post so far.

He added that Iran’s chief negotiator and Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Secretary Saeed Jalili stands 4th with 2,593,169 votes.

Iran’s former foreign minister and Senior Advisor of the Supreme Leader for International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati has gained 1,405,543 votes ranking 5th in the race, and former Iranian oil and telecommunications minister Seyed Mohammad Qarazi has so far come last with 276,499 ballots cast in his favor.
