Islamic Iran acquires technology to design heavy aircraft

Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi announced on Monday that Iran has acquired the technology to design helicopters and heavy aircraft.
Vahidi also said that experts at the Iran Aviation Industries Organization have designed and manufactured a naval surveillance aircraft, which enjoys all relevant international standards.

The production of the surveillance aircraft is clear evidence that sanctions against the Islamic Republic could not impede the country’s progress, he noted.

In addition, he said that low fuel consumption, ability to carry out relief and rescue operations, and maneuverability are among significant features of the surveillance aircraft.

According to Press TV, a commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force also said on Sunday that Iran plans to build a new generation of the indigenous Sa’eqeh (Thunderbolt) military fighter jet with enhanced radar systems and smart munitions.

Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh added that Iran plans to increase the range of missiles, upgrade air-to-air missiles, boost the range of radars, and update aircraft electronic systems in cooperation with the Defense Ministry.
