Hamas politburo member Barhoum martyred in barbaric zionist airstrike targeting Nasser Hospital in the southern region of Gaza

In a significant development, a senior member of Hamas' political bureau, Ismail Barhoum, has been killed in an Israeli airstrike on Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, located in the southern Gaza Strip. This incident is the most recent in a sequence of targeted strikes aimed at the political leaders of the organization.

Barhoum, who occupied a political civilian role within Hamas, was the fifth individual from the organization’s 20-member political bureau to be targeted and killed in the past week.

The emergency department at Nasser Hospital is currently inoperable after an airstrike by the Israel Defense Forces targeted the building, affecting Barhoum and his son.

The Gaza Health Ministry has alleged that efforts are being made by the Israeli authorities to hinder hospital operations, with the intention of facilitating the relocation of Palestinian residents.

Barhoum, who had been under medical care for injuries obtained during a previous Israeli attack, was in the hospital’s men’s surgery department when it came under direct assault by Israeli forces.

An airstrike targeted the hospital, impacting facilities while patients, injured civilians, and medical staff were present.

In a continuation of regional hostilities, an assault on Nasser Hospital has been reported subsequent to an earlier Israeli military operation on Friday, which targeted the Palestinian-Turkish Friendship Hospital. This facility stands as Gaza’s sole center dedicated to cancer care.

Israeli forces have recently reoccupied a hospital situated in the vicinity of the Netzarim corridor.

The Government Media Office in Gaza has reported that the number of fatalities in the Gaza Strip has surpassed 50,021. Women and children comprise over 60% of these casualties.

Since the onset of the Israeli military operations in Gaza, reports indicate that 1,394 medical personnel have died, and 360 healthcare workers have been detained. Notably, allegations have surfaced that three doctors were executed while under Israeli custody.

Key medical institutions, such as Kamal Adwan, Al-Awda, and Al-Shifa hospitals, have faced Israeli military actions including raids, blockades, or direct assaults. These developments have significantly undermined the already overburdened healthcare system in Gaza.
