Holy Ramadan starts on Saturday in Iran

Iranians will celebrate the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan on Saturday, the office of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution announces.

The office of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, announced that based on expert reports from across the country regarding the sighting of the new month’s moon, the holy month of Ramadan will start on Saturday.

Muslims in Qatar, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen, Algeria, Indonesia, Malaysia, Lebanon, Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Palestine as well as France will also celebrate the beginning of Ramadan on Saturday, IRIB reported.

During the month of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, Muslims abstain from eating, drinking and smoking from dawn to dusk.
