Ramadan Capacity for empathy, compassion from Quran view

Cultural Deputy at the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought, Hojjatol Islam Val Moslemin Sadeq Golzadeh in an exclusive interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) beckoned to the holy Quran verse says “O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous”, urging Muslims to use the very best of the opportunity holy Month of Ramadan provides them with for braving the standing setbacks world of Islam wrestling with.

“Holy month of Ramadan is a golden chance and capacity for letting up threats and overcoming the standing hurdles,” said Hojjatol Islam Val Moslemin Golzadeh. Elsewhere in his remarks, Cultural deputy at the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought pointed to another Quran verse saying “The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion,” adding here the concepts of guidance and proofs are the main principles which provides opportunity for promoting rapprochement and compassion.

Hojjatol Islam Val Moslemin Golzadeh went on to call on Muslims treasure their relation and have genteel mien toward each other noting, “the duty upon us is behaving with mercy and compassion.” To him if Muslims behave with each other magnanimously, then the fruit of such amity would be compassion and rapprochement among them.

The unity activist nudged Muslims to be even-tempered in facing different takes and thoughts, not to lose their composure. He stressed forgiveness, pardon and compassion can in turn lead to upholding rapprochement and compassion in the society.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is the time when Muslims around the world fast for around 30 days and break their fast after evening prayers by having an “iftar” meal. The act of fasting is aimed at reminding the faithful of the plight of the poor, thus serving as a major incentive for the practicing Muslims to engage in charitable activities during the month.

By advertising the prized virtue of self-restraint, the month increases the staying power of Muslims at times of crisis. Fasting is also highly advantageous to the physical health as it detoxifies the body. During the month, Muslims are strongly recommended to refrain from backbiting, swearing and fighting in a bid to purify their souls.
