‘Claimants of election fraud acknowledged no vote rigging in 2009’

914928_thum Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani said those who claimed that there had been vote rigging in the poll finally acknowledged that no fraud had occurred.
Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani said the claimants said some violations of the law, such as use of public funds for electoral purposes, had taken place, which was just a “pretext”, said Larijani, who served as a religious jurist on the Guardian Council at the time.

At that meeting, the Guardian Council, a 12-member body tasked with vetting candidates and supervising elections, insisted that they were ready to recount any ballot box selected by the claimants of election fraud, the Judiciary chief stated.

“The claims of vote rigging were raised by some people on websites and in the media, while the claimants and those who protested the result of the election acknowledged that it was not clear if a recount of the votes would change the result of the election,” Larijani added.
