Clashes slow down in southwest Syria after several hours of fighting

The clashes in southwest Syria have died down this evening after several hours of fighting in northeast Dara’a.

According to a military source in Izra’a, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and jihadist rebels clashed for several hours near the Busra Al-Harir axis.

The military source added that the Syrian Army’s gains at the Busra Al-Harir axis were overstated, as many areas that were claimed to have been captured were not true.

The clashes initially broke out after the Syrian Army targeted the jihadist positions in southeast Dara’a with a barrage of missiles and artillery shells.

The jihadist rebels responded to this Syrian Army attack by firing several artillery shells at the latter’s positions.

This shelling would later breakout into a fierce exchange on the ground between the Syrian Arab Army and jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham.
