Commander Condemns Foreign Meddling in Syria’s Internal Affairs

Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces for Cultural Affairs and Defense Publicity Brigadier General Massoud Jazzayeri condemned certain foreign countries for interfering in Syria’s internal affairs, and said the Syrian government and people are able to solve their problems by themselves.

Jazayeri said on Wednesday that the crisis in Syria should be dealt within the country and no other state should be allowed to interfere in its internal affairs.

“A solution to (crisis in) Syria can be only meaningful (when it is found) within the country’s borders and others have no right to interfere in the (internal) affairs of this country which is part of the [anti-Israeli] resistance front,” Jazayeri added.

“They are (now) trying, to make up for their failures through political means with political deliberations and by sending envoys to other countries,” he said.

“There should be no optimism about political talks on one side of which are bullying powers,” the commander noted.

The commander stated that all parties which have played a role in causing problems for Syria will be punished and the “regional people will not forget such interferences,” he noted.

“If the enemies of Syria could take military measures, they would not have hesitated for a moment to put pressure on this (anti-Israeli) resistance front. The enemy knows that it is in the firing line of the resistance.” Jazayeri said.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.

Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes.

The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.

In October, calm was eventually restored in the Arab state after President Assad started a reform initiative in the country, but Israel, the US and its Arab allies are seeking hard to bring the country into chaos through any possible means. Tel Aviv, Washington and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots in the hope of stirring unrests in Syria once again.
