Commander: Tens of Terrorist Operations Foiled after Capturing Jeish al-Adl Members

“140 optical, audio and time detonators as well as different booby-trap explosive devices were seized,” Rezayee said, referring to the weapons, explosive devices and equipment seized from the members of the Jeish al-Adl terrorist group who were captured as they were trying to sneak into Iran through the borders of the Southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan earlier this month.

He said the captured terrorists had received special training for using the detonators, “and they could use the devices for conducting at least 100 big terrorist blasts and create heavy destructions”.

Rezayee also disclosed that the discovered ammunition and weapons bore US flags and logos.

Earlier this month, Rezayee told reporters in the provincial capital city of Zahedan that the terrorists plotted to sneak into the country via Mirjaveh border and carry out sabotage acts in Sistan and Balouchestan and Kerman provinces, adding that during the 2-hour clashes, three terrorists were arrested alive with one of them sustaining injuries.

“Based on their confessions, they have been hired by the US to foment insecurity in Sistan and Balouchestan, Kerman and the adjacent provinces through acts of sabotage,” he said.

Rezayee also announced that a cache of weapons, ammunition, detonators and illicit drugs were discovered and seized from the terrorist group, adding that many of the armaments are US-made.

Footages released by Iran’s state-run TV showed equipment that carried ‘Made in USA’ labels.

Also on July 11, Iran’s Deputy Police Chief and Spokesman Brigadier General Saeed Montazer al-Mahdi revealed details of the clashes between the Iranian border guards and members of Jeish al-Adl terrorist group.

“The early Saturday morning operations were carried out with full intelligence superiority and preparedness of Mirjaveh border regiment forces and the border guards prevented sneaking of a saboteur group affiliated to Jeish al-Adl which was supported by a number of other groups and arrested all its members; during the operations, one of Mirjaveh border regiment commanders who played an effective role in the operations was martyred,” Montazer al-Mahdi told reporters in Tehran at the time.

He referred to the shocking confessions of the captured terrorists, and said, “The group planned to conduct acts of sabotage and different operations in several Iranian cities and wanted to use new equipment and weapons sensitive to voice, heat and light to detonate explosives.”
