Culture Minister

Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyed Mohammad Hosseini announced Iranian directors and producers’ readiness to make joint movies with their Afghan counterparts.

Hosseini said in a press conference in Kabul on Saturday that Iranians do not feel separated from the Afghans because of common religion, language, culture, history, literature and tradition.

He continued that annually 69,000 title books are published in Iran, which can be used by Afghans, too.

The minister underlined necessity of creating facilities for books to be exported from Iran to Afghanistan and added that books in the fields of poetry, novels, literature, history, religion, and children stories are published in Iran which can be used by Afghans too.

Hosseini also said Iran stands ready to produce joint movies with Afghanistan, adding that the two countries can make movies about characters, historical events and world issues.

Iran is one of the most important donors to Afghanistan which has kept its promises to help to the reconstruction of the war-hit country.

Iran has built some roads, power transmission lines, and border stations, among the other infrastructure projects which would better link the two nations.

Iran has also contributed more than $50 million annually to Afghan anti-narcotics
efforts in the last 8 years.
