A bomb attack on Friday targeted the venue of a volleyball game in the strife-torn northwestern Pakistan, killing at least 25 people and wounding 50 others.

District police chief Mohammad Ayub Khan said the bombing occurred in the Banu district of the North West Frontier, AFP reported.

“There’s a lot of damage. Roofs of nearby houses collapsed. There could be high casualties,” said another police official, Habibullah Khan.

“The death toll has risen to 25 and more than 50 people are wounded,” he told AFP. “There was a match between two village teams and a lot of people were watching it.”
