The Takfiri Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group has claimed responsibility for a deadly car bomb attack that killed over a dozen people in the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad.

The terrorist group early on Sunday claimed the bombing on Twitter, saying that the Iraqi army, federal police and government-backed Popular Mobilization forces were the target of the attack.

At least 13 people were killed and as many as 52 others sustained injuries late on Saturday in the car bomb attack at a popular auto dealership in Sadr City, a district in northeastern Baghdad.

The car dealership, known as Habibiya, is widely known for buying and selling used vehicles and has been hit several times in the past.

According to Iraqi police, a bomb attack on the same day hit a popular market in the town of Madain, south Baghdad, killing at least three people and wounding 10 others.

Meanwhile, two people were killed and eight others sustained injuries after a bomb tore through a row of auto repair shops in the town of Taji, north of Baghdad.

In another incident, an improvised explosive device went off on a busy commercial street in the al-Askan district in the capital, killing at least two people and wounding eight others.

Iraqi police also said at least two people were killed and seven others wounded in a bomb attack on a commercial street in Baghdad’s southeastern suburb of Jisr Diyala.
