Devastating Aggression Against Gaza Rages On: 70% of Infrastructure Destroyed in 92 Days

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the number of martyrs has reached a staggering 22,600, with approximately 58,000 sustaining various injuries. The majority of victims are innocent children, women, and the elderly since the war on Gaza began on October 7th.

Adding to the horror, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Observatory revealed that the Israeli occupation has destroyed around 70% of facilities and infrastructure in Gaza. This deliberate destruction is aimed at forcibly displacing civilians, leaving them without safe shelter.

The situation in Gaza has reached a breaking point, prompting the United Nations to warn that the region has become “simply uninhabitable” due to the heavy Israeli bombing. Martin Griffiths, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator, emphasized the dire conditions, stating that Gaza has become a place of death and despair.

The ongoing war on Gaza has left the region in a state of unimaginable suffering. Stephanie Tremblay from the UN Spokesperson’s Office highlighted that the current humanitarian response only meets a small fraction of people’s needs. Restrictions on movement and security risks present further challenges in delivering aid.

Addressing the issue of post-conflict governance plans, Tremblay reiterated the importance of working towards a two-state solution. The Secretary-General emphasizes the need for a humanitarian ceasefire and finding a way to meet the enormous requirements of the growing population in Gaza. The release of hostages and serious efforts towards a two-state solution are essential for the delivery of humanitarian aid.

The situation has taken a devastating toll on children, as the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) issued a warning, highlighting that the intensification of conflict, malnutrition, and diseases in the Gaza Strip pose a severe threat to more than 1.1 million children.
