Anti-capitalist protest to hit London

Anti-capitalist campaigners will protest in London later today in a “show of anger” at the Group of Eight countries, ahead of their summit next week in Northern Ireland.
The Stop G8 campaign group, which has organized the demonstrations, has published a map of the location of international banks, hedge funds and other targets where people can meet capitalists head-on.
“For billionaires, dictators, and other parasites London is a safe place to hide out, launder money, and go shopping,” the Stop G8 group said on its website.
“These people are not untouchable. They are right here on our doorstep, and they have names and addresses,” it added.
Tuesday is part of the Stop G8’s week of action that will lead to protests on June 17 and 18, when the G8 leaders are to meet in Northern Ireland.
The map published by the campaign group features some 100 addresses of the “hiding places of power” in the West End London including the US embassy and banks and hedge funds owned by the Israeli regime, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Some of the locations will be targeted by today’s anti-capitalist street party named the Piccadilly Circus.
The West End of London is home to several elite areas like Piccadilly, Mayfair and Knightsbridge where, according to Stop G8, “power and greed are most concentrated”.
The group said they want to take back the central part of the British capital from the powerful, who “feel safe in London so long as they go unchallenged”, for at least a day, by protesting at their hiding places.
