Zionist Occupation Puts Reservists on Alert as Clashes Spread All across Al-Quds

Zionist occupation said Thursday it has put the so-called border police reservists on alert on Thursday as clashes spread all across east Al-Quds (Jerusalem) overnight in protest against continuous Israeli raids in the Shuafat refugee camp.

Israeli border police chief Deputy Commissioner Amir Cohen decided to place 10 reservist companies on alert in case the situation escalates further, Ynet reported

Hundreds of Palestinians confronted Israeli security forces across occupied East Al-Quds overnight on Wednesday as Israeli soldiers, using tear gas and stun grenades, made several arrests.

Palestinians were reported to have taken to the streets in Isawiyah, Silwan, A-Tur, Ras al-Amud, Shuafat, Jabel Mukaber, Sur Baher and Beit Hanina.

Palestinian sources said Israeli forces rounded up 18 Palestinians from various parts of the city.

Two Israeli officers were reported injured in Issawiyah after 11 people were detained there.

Palestinian media also reported clashes near Nablus and Ramallah.

Many Palestinians had observed a day of civil disobedience earlier on Wednesday in solidarity with residents of the Shuafat camp in East Jerusalem which has been under Israeli lockdown for five days.

Israeli occupation forces have been searching Shuafat for the suspected gunman behind a deadly shooting attack at a nearby checkpoint Saturday night that left a soldier dead and another guard hospitalized in serious condition.

A general commercial strike was held in East Al-Quds and the occupied West Bank.

The strikes were called for by residents of Shuafat and a newly formed armed group in the West Bank’s city of Nablus named the Lion’s Den.

The Nablus-based group called for “days of rage” against the Israeli occupation in a statement and urged citizens to join in strikes and protests near Israeli checkpoints.
