Egyptian president wishes to attend NAM summit in Tehran

Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi has announced that he is willing to take part in the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran late this month, NAM spokesman Mohammad Reza Forqani announced on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Iranian Vice President for Executive Affairs Hamid Baghaee visited Cairo to officially submit President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s invitation letter to Morsi to attend the summit.

Forqani was accompanying Baghaee in the visit to Cairo.

In the meeting which took place at the Egyptian presidential palace Morsi said he will soon officially announce his decision to take part in the conference or not, Forqani said.

The Egyptian president considered the Iranian delegation’s visit to Egypt very important at this sensitive juncture and called for establishing close relations with Iran, the NAM spokesman explained.
