U.S. demos sparked by skyrocketing military expenditures

Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami has said that U.S. citizens are currently holding street demonstrations mainly to protest against the U.S. government’s military expenditures.
He made the remarks in a sermon at this week’s Friday prayers in Tehran.
Khatami also condemned the U.S. police for cracking down on the protesters.

Elsewhere in his sermon, he said the Iranian people should be certain that Iranian officials are going to firmly deal with the $2.6 billion financial fraud case and will cut off the hands of the traitors who embezzled the money.

Similar cases of financial fraud occur in many countries around the world, but Iranians expect the Islamic system to effectively and firmly address this issue, Khatami stated.

The leader of this week’s Friday prayers in Tehran also lauded the fact that some international conferences on the Islamic Awakening were held in Iran over the past month, noting that 70 percent of the guests were Sunni and 30 percent were Shia.

And the revolutionary movements in Arab countries should always be called the Islamic Awakening not the Arab Spring because this expression is part of a conspiracy devised by the enemy, he added
