Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim meets PM al-Maliki

Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI), met Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, at his Baghdad office. During the meeting, a review went on of a number of issues and important matters which concern the domestic national affairs and the efforts exerted to remove the obstacles from the path of the political process in the country, in addition to discussing the issues that concern the forthcoming governorate council elections and a discussion of the regional situations.
There was emphasis on the rights of the peoples of neighboring countries for stability, security, prosperity and development distantly from regional and international interferences, in addition to strengthening Iraq’s role in resolving the crises facing the region in a way that enhances Iraq’s historic status on the regional and global levels.
During the meeting, there was also a discussion of the means for sustaining the meetings and direct dialogues among leaders of the political blocs and the emphasis on constructive dialogue to solve the standing problems, emphasizing pacifying and renouncing of violence and not escalating the media hype among the groups, in addition to seeking the arbitration of the constitution and depending on it as the resort for solving problems.
Both sides also stressed the necessity of strengthening the shared view for reaching quick solutions for outstanding issues and tensions the pace of which has lately escalated and which cast their shadows on the overall security and political conditions in the country.
During the meeting, light was shed on the electoral alliances and the necessity of dialogues and understandings between both sides with regard to the alliances and to discussing the situations that concern the election matter.
