EU foreign ministers have welcomed a decision by members of the 28-nation bloc to supply arms to Iraq’s Kurds fighting against Takfiri ISIL militants.

In a statement on Friday, the EU ministers said they “welcome the decision by individual member states to respond positively to the call by the Kurdish regional authorities to provide urgently military material.”

They noted that their planned military support for the Kurds will be done “with the consent of the Iraqi national authorities.”

The ministers, who held an emergency meeting in Brussels, said they feel obligated to “cooperate with Iraq in our common fight against terrorism.”

They condemned “atrocities and abuses” against the Izadi religious minority in Iraq, with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier saying, “We cannot just watch as people are slaughtered there.”

“The EU…condemns the atrocities and abuses of basic human rights, in particular when committed against targeted religious minorities and most vulnerable groups,” the EU ministers said in a statement.

They also expressed serious concern about the deterioration of security in Iraq and strongly condemned ISIL attacks.

Reports coming from northern Iraq suggest that the ISIL terrorists are selling captured female Izadi Kurds as sex slaves.

Thousands of members of the Kurdish minority group have fled homes after ISIL Takfiri militants attacked them in remote areas of northern Iraq.

The ISIL terrorists have already killed hundreds of the Izadi Kurds and captured their women. The ISIL and its associated militant groups consider them as apostates.

The ISIL terrorists have been committing heinous crimes in the captured areas of Iraq, including the mass execution of civilians and Iraqi security forces.
