At least eight Palestinians are injured after Israeli military forces raid a refugee camp in the occupied West Bank to demolish the house of a teenager.

The clashes in the Qalandiya refugee camp early Wednesday broke out when Israeli troops moved to demolish the house of Hussein Abu Ghosh, a teenager fatally shot in January over an alleged stabbing attack.

Witnesses said Israeli soldiers and special forces surrounded the house and began razing its walls, which prompted local residents to gather and clash with them.

Israeli forces then fired live bullets as well as tear gas canisters and stun grenades to disperse the crowd. Two soldiers were also injured in the ensuing clashes.

Tensions have heightened in the occupied territories since August 2015, when Israel imposed restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site in Islam after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina.

At least 210 Palestinians, including children and women, have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces since the beginning of last October.
