Iraq vehemently objects to its airspace being utilized for assaults on Iran
Iraq's National Security Advisor, Qasim al-Araji, has reaffirmed Baghdad’s firm stance against the utilization of its airspace for offensive operations targeting Iran or any nation within the region.

During a meeting on Saturday with Iran’s military attaché to Baghdad, Major General Majid Qalipour, Araji reaffirmed Iraq’s official position.
In a statement released by the media office of the National Security Advisor, it was reported that Araji and Qalipour engaged in discussions focused on strengthening the security and stability of their respective nations. Additionally, they explored mechanisms to activate memoranda of understanding aimed at controlling border security.
The statement further indicated that the two parties engaged in discussions regarding the ongoing bilateral collaboration in combating terrorism and smuggling activities.
In a statement issued late last month, Iranian officials accused Israel of perpetrating a recent act of aggression against the nation. The attack was alleged to have been executed through airspace managed by the United States over Iraq, as well as through the airspace of several other countries in the region.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the U.S. military’s presence in the region is undeniable, adding that the recent assault on Iran by Zionist fighter jets was facilitated through airspace made accessible by the United States.
In response to statements from Iraqi government spokesman Basim al-Awadi regarding a formal complaint lodged with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the Security Council, the Iranian Foreign Minister has issued remarks denouncing Israel’s utilization of Iraqi airspace to conduct airstrikes on various military installations in Iran. The letter from Iraq explicitly condemns the perceived violation of its airspace, highlighting the escalating regional tensions.
On October 26, Israeli fighter jets launched projectiles targeting military facilities across Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam provinces, utilizing airspace over Iraq that is under United States control. This action has been described as a blatant violation of Iran’s national sovereignty.
In a recent Israeli offensive, four military personnel and one civilian lost their lives, as reported by local sources. The attack resulted in limited damage across several areas.
In a recent statement, the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces has confirmed that Israeli forces have operated within airspace over Iraq, which is reportedly under the control of the United States.
