‘Europe to face social explosions’

A senior Iranian commander says the recent protests in the UK have raised the possibility of “social explosions” in other European countries in the near future.

“The European countries’ fear and concern about the spread of what happened in the UK has put the possibility of experiencing social explosions in the fall before the governments [in Europe],” Deputy Head of Iran’s Armed Forces Joint Chiefs of Staff Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri said on Tuesday.

Jazayeri also said the European nations’ wave of rage against their governments has sparked an explosion that might lead to the collapse of the US-style liberal democracy sooner than expected.

The Iranian commander noted that the emergence of unrest in Europe and the US is not unexpected as governments spend billions of dollars, euros and pounds on warmongering in Afghanistan, Iraq and now Libya instead of spending them on their own people.

Jazayeri referred to the recent remarks by Leader of the Islamic Ummah And Oppressed People Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei that the revolutions in the Middle East and North Africa would spread to the heart of Europe and said that only a few weeks after the Leader’s prediction, uprisings emerged in European countries.

Jazayeri also highlighted the influence of Iran’s Islamic Revolution of 1979 in inspiring regional revolutions in the Middle East and North Africa that have spread to Europe.

The unrest in the UK erupted on August 6, when a few hundred people gathered outside a police station in the north London suburb of Tottenham to protest against the fatal shooting of a black man, Mark Duggan, by the police.

Turmoil then spread to major cities, such as Birmingham, Liverpool and Bristol.

London Police have resorted to a brutal crackdown on protesters, arresting thousands of people in connection with the unrest so far.
