Syria Welcomes Humanitarian Efforts as They Don’t Serve Political Agendas

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor welcomed all humanitarian and aid efforts to help the affected and displaced families inside and outside Syria as long as these efforts did not deviate from the framework of humanitarian mission and the international conventions or they serve political agendas in order to allow intervention in the Syrian internal affairs.

Speaking at the 21st meeting of the High Commission for Relief on Wednesday, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Jassim Zakarya, said that a committee was formed to facilitate the return of displaced families outside the borders.

He added that the Commission is concerned with meeting the needs of these families to enable them to return to their homes and areas.

The minister noted that the Commission will address governors to provide temporary shelter centers for the returning families if it is hard to return to their homes.

He called on all public sides and unions to engage with the humanitarian field as a social responsibility in order to reduce the suffering of the affected families, adding that any default will be punished.

In turn, Minister of State for the Syrian Arab Red Crescent Affairs, Joseph Sweid, said that a committee will be formed to ensure a safe return for families and supervise their entry through the border crossings.

He added that the government is carrying out its duties to provide the affected families at the temporary shelter centers with their needs.

Sweid noted that news circulated by foreign media about the numbers of displaced Syrian families in the neighboring countries are exaggerated, expressing concerns over referring this humanitarian file into one that is subjected to political and financial exploitation.

The meeting discussed what has been provided to affected families at temporary shelter centers, taking into account urgent humanitarian cases in the countryside of Damascus and Homs.
