“Expediency Council in charge of key issues”: The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei

The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei said that some of the most important issues of the country are discussed and settled in the State Expediency Council.

The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei made the remarks while addressing the Chairman of the State Expediency Council and the new members of the State Expediency Council in Tehran on Sunday.

‘Counseling the leader on the general policies of the Islamic System and regulating such policies are two important tasks undertaken by the State Expediency Council,’ the Supreme Leader said while elaborating on the status of the State Expediency Council within the system and its duties as brought in the Constitution.

He referred to another duty of the State Expediency Council as resolving the issues when the three branches of power face deadlock.

‘The exigencies as recognized by the council should be confirmed by the majority members of the council,’ The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei added.
