Fatah has a major crisis

Fawzi-Barhoum

Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum stated Monday that the media and instigation campaigns escalated by Fatah leaders against his Movement reflect undoubtedly the enormity of the real crisis inside Fatah faction in the aftermath of its sixth conference and the scandal of delaying Goldstone’s report.

Barhoum also said that there are attempts by Fatah to polish up the faces of all traitors and collaborators especially those elected during its sixth conference with the aim of eliminating the Palestinian resistance and legalizing the security coordination with the Israeli occupation.

The spokesman added that Fatah leaders want nominal reconciliation without changing on the ground their security and political attitude which threatens the whole national project including the reconciliation issue.

On the ground, Mahmoud Abbas’s militias waged a wide campaign of arrests in the ranks of members and leaders of the Islamic bloc, the student wing of Hamas, in the university of Al-Najah.

Sources inside the university said that Abbas’s militias carried out this campaign in the context of the preparations made by Fatah for the student elections, which are aimed to prevent the Islamic bloc from participating in the elections.

For his part, MP Salah Al-Bardawil, the spokesman for Hamas parliamentary bloc, condemned these arrests as the real face of Fatah faction in the West Bank.

Dr. Bardawil considered these violations an attempt by Fatah and the Palestinian Authority (PA) to escape from national reconciliation.

He asserted that the participation of Fatah leaders in the national dialog was aimed to cover their Movement’s ugly face and its aggressive attitude inherent in its relationship with the Palestinian resistance factions.

In a related context, Abbas’s militias reportedly summoned at dawn Sunday eight Palestinian citizens affiliated with Hamas for investigation and kidnapped a university student.

For his part, MP Ismail Al-Ashqar, the rapporteur of the parliamentary security committee, said that the Movement of Hamas deals with the national reconciliation with a strategic vision and not with a tactical vision.

Ashqar underlined that Fatah placed before Hamas two options, either to accept unshaped reconciliation or else face a new war waged by the Israeli occupation.

He pointed out that there is a media war waged on Hamas by Zionist Fatah officials who conspire with the Israeli occupation and the US to undermine the reconciliation through making it conditional on recognizing the international quartet’s terms.

In the same context, Mohamed Dahlan, a member of Fatah central committee, warned Monday the Palestinian people in Gaza during a news conference held in his office in Ramallah that they would pay dearly if Hamas did not accept his Movement’s conditions for the national reconciliation.
