Boroujerdi Stresses Importance of Political Program to Resolve Crisis in Syria

Chairman for the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security at the Iranian Shura Council, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, said that the situation in Syria has crossed the stage of aggravation and that the polticial program proposed by President Bashar al-Assad should end the crisis because Iran and other countries like Russia and China support it.

In statements yesterday Friday, Boroujerdi stressed the need to resolve the crisis in Syria from inside, calling for letting Syria enter dialogue with the opposition to find a solution.

He also lauded the efforts by the Syrian state and leadership to release the Iranian tourists who were abducted by terrorists, noting that while Iran was busy working to release the abductees, some countries were trying to sabotage these efforts.

The Iranian abductees arrived in Tehran on Thursday afternoon after being set free on Wednesday.
