First woman member of the Hamas political bureau, Jamila Al-Shanti martyred in zionist raid

Palestinian MP and member of the Hamas political bureau, Jamila Al-Shanti, was killed in an Israeli air raid on her family house at dawn Thursday.

As one of the thousands of Palestinian victims, Al-Shanti was killed as part of the Israeli holocaust that violated all taboos with total American and Western support.

In a statement, the Palestinian Legislative Council mourned MP Jamila Al-Shanti.

Al-Shanti was born in Jabalia refugee camp in 1957 and held a PhD in English language from Ain Shams University in Egypt in 1980.

Al-Shanti joined the Muslim Brotherhood during her university studies at Ain Shams University in Egypt in 1977.

She then returned to the Gaza Strip in 1990 to join Hamas Movement’s organizational work.

She worked as a faculty member at the Islamic University in Gaza.

Jamila al-Shanti was also the founder of the Hamas Movement’s women’s organization.

She was the most senior woman among Hamas deputies elected in 2006 since she was third on its list.

On November 3, 2006, Al-Shanti led a women’s march to break the Israeli siege on a Beit Hanoun mosque in the northern Gaza Strip, which included dozens of resistance fighters.

In 2013, Al-Shanti was appointed minister for women affairs and in 2021, Al-Shanti was elected as the first woman to become a member of the political bureau of the Hamas Movement in the Gaza Strip.

Jamila Al-Shanti is the third member of Hamas’s political bureau to be killed during the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
