Iranian firms specialized in nuclear technology are prepared to offer Nigeria their expertise to help boost electricity supply in the country, a senior diplomat announced.
“Iran is ready to share its experiences with Nigeria to use nuclear energy for power generation,” Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria Saeed Kouzehchi said in Abuja on Friday.

He noted that Iran is using its nuclear technology to improve the power, health and agriculture sectors in the country.

“Iran has invaluable experience in constructing power plants and transmission lines for electricity supply,” Kouzehchi added.

He reiterated that the power sector is very important and it is the blood for the economy, and said, “Without electricity it is impossible to create any investment or job.”

Iran has long sought to boost bilateral ties and mutual cooperation with the African countries in a bid to help them with development.

Iran is also an observing member of the AU and has shown an active presence in previous AU summit meetings.

The country is considered as one of the AU’s strategic partners along with India, Japan, China, several South American states and Turkey, while Tehran is also believed to be prioritizing promotion of its economic and political ties with the African states.
