‘Global Islamic power taking shape’

A top Iranian military official says following the wave of Islamic Awakening in the region a “global Islamic power” will soon be established and will become amongst major power hubs.

A new political, cultural and economic power will emerge in the 21st century that will lead to enhanced unity among Muslim nations, in turn undermining the power of the US and Europe and “seriously weakening the Zionists (Israel’s backers),” said Brigadier General Yahya Rahim-Safavi, the senior military adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Ummah And Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday .

He pointed to the recent developments in the Middle East and North Africa and the spread of Islamic Awakening and stated that the arrogant system seeks to bring popular uprisings under control and turn them into some sorts of political reform without any real structural and fundamental change.

The Iranian commander expressed hope that nations would remain vigilant to thwart plots hatched by the US and its allies.

He stated that dependence of certain Arab countries on foreign powers, the weak political and economic independence and military occupation of Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine are among the challenges that Muslim countries face today.

“Certain political theorists predict that the world is moving toward multilateralism and that Muslim nations will emerge as big power hubs,” Rahim-Safavi concluded.
