Iran hails anti-Israel UN resolution

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has voiced support for the adoption of a UN resolution against Israel as well as for talks between different Palestinian factions.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast made the remarks after the committee of independent experts appointed by the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to investigate Tel Aviv’s attack on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla, said on Thursday that said that Israel violated international law.

“While supporting the resolution adopted in condemnation of the Zionist regime [of Israel] over the inhumane and barbaric on the aid flotilla for Gaza, Iran views this incident (flotilla attack) as an instance of the regime’s misanthropic nature,” IRNA quoted him as saying on Friday

Mehmanparast called for the prosecution of “criminal” Israeli leaders by relevant international entities.

On May 31, Israeli commandos stormed the Gaza-bound aid convoy in international waters, killing nine Turkish activists and injuring dozens of others.

“Iran considers negotiations between the two Palestinian factions of Hamas and Fatah in Damascus with the aim of making peace a necessary and positive step and welcomes it…,” he added.

Mehmanparast went on to say that all-out resistance against the Israeli regime was the only solution to the Palestinian issue, adding that Iran “views solidarity among Palestinian groups as a crucial measure for Palestine.”
