Islamic Unity Conference underway in Mauritania

The 22nd annual Islamic Unity Conference began in Mauritania yesterday, February 22, saharamedias.net reported.

It is held in An-Nur Mosque in the city of As-Sabkha with the motto of “Unity of Islamic Ummah, Africa’s Role as a Model”.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Muhammad Al-Hassan Valad Aldidu who heads the Center for Solidarity of Mauritania’s Muslim Scholars stressed the importance of unity among Muslims all over the world. In his speech, he also touched on the virtues of the month of Rabi al-Awwal, the Nabavi (holy Prophet (PBUH)) month.

Hamd Valad Al-Tah, an advisor to the president of Senegal, also addressed the ceremony, regarding the conference as an opportunity for promoting unity in the Islamic world.

The three-day conference features discussions on strengthening Islamic unity and the role of African Muslim scholars in promoting Islamic values and culture.
