This significant prisoner exchange comes as part of a temporary truce agreement, which follows a 3:1 release ratio – meaning that for every Israeli captive returned, three Palestinian prisoners are set free. The al-Qassam Brigades have also stated that an additional 39 Palestinian prisoners are expected to be liberated in the coming days, mirroring the successful exchange that transpired just yesterday.

Notably, the release of the Russian captive was a response to the efforts made by Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as an acknowledgment of Moscow’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. The al-Qassam Brigades confirmed their decision to hand over the Russian citizen to the Red Cross, highlighting the direct involvement of Russian representatives in securing the detainee’s freedom.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova confirmed the release in a statement, clarifying that the Russian citizen’s liberation was not part of the initial exchange lists. Rather, it was the result of direct negotiations between Russian representatives and Hamas, underscoring the significance and complexity of the operation.

This stunning development marks a resounding victory for the Resistance, a triumph of Hamas’ determination to secure the release of their people, and a testament to the growing international support for the Palestinian cause.
