Hamas and Islamic Jihad take credit for Tel Aviv assault
The Gaza-based Palestinian resistance organizations Hamas and Islamic Jihad have taken responsibility for a lethal explosion in Tel Aviv.

In a statement released on Monday, Hamas’s military faction, the al-Qassam Brigades, announced that in collaboration with the Saraya al-Quds Brigades, the armed division of Islamic Jihad, they had executed the operation on Sunday evening.
It further cautioned about the possibility of “additional retaliatory strikes” in the occupied regions, should Israel persist with its strategy of massacres, assassinations, and the displacement of Palestinians.
Earlier, Israeli authorities stated they were “99% certain” that the fatal explosion in Tel Aviv was an attempted assault.
On Monday, Haim Bublil, the Ayalon District Police Commander, asserted that an explosion resulted in the death of a man in his 50s and caused moderate injuries to a passerby on an electric scooter.
While strolling down Lehi Road in southern Tel Aviv, the man had a bomb in a backpack, which suddenly exploded.
Bublil mentioned on Israel’s Kan Radio that the attacker might have intended to target a nearby synagogue or shopping center, but it is unclear why the explosion occurred at that specific location.
In the meantime, Tel Aviv District Commander, Superintendent Peretz Amar, stated at the location that determining the man’s identity is crucial for comprehending the nature of the incident.
The Shin Bet intelligence agency is investigating the explosion that severely damaged a truck.
