Iran’s DM Stresses Iran’s Support for Syrian Nation

Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi renewed Iran’s support for the will of the Syrian people and government, and opposed foreign meddling in the Muslim states, specially Syria, to the interest of Israel.

Vahidi made the remarks in a meeting with the Iraqi Interior Minister Adnan al-Assadi here in Tehran on Wednesday.

“The enemies try to weaken or annihilate resistance front in a bid to help the Zionist regime dominate the entire region and for this reason they have targeted Syria,” he said.

He noted only Israel and its allies benefit from the current Syrian crisis, and called on regional countries, specially Syria’s neighboring countries, to help foil the foreign plots hatched against the Muslim state.

The Iranian defense minister underlined that the regional crises can be resolved through collective cooperation of the countries of the region.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against the Syrian police, border guards, statesmen, army and the civilians being reported across the country.

Thousands of people have been killed since terrorist and armed groups turned protest rallies into armed clashes.

The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.
