Hamas plays down Kerry’s remarks about ending Palestinian resistance

The Hamas Movement belittled recent remarks made by US secretary of state John Kerry in which he expressed his hope to see the Palestinian resistance come to an end, stressing that the resistance is ongoing as long as the occupation is persistent in its aggression.

Hamas’s spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri described in a press release on Monday Kerry’s remarks as illusions and dreams that would never come true.

“As long as the (Israeli) occupation is still there and its aggression is ongoing, the resistance will continue,” Abu Zuhri underlined.

Addressing the Saban forum in Washington on Sunday, Kerry said that Arab countries are ready to make peace with Israel and join a new regional coalition alongside a future Palestinian state to fight what he labelled as “terrorist” groups.
