Hamas prisoners escalate the strike and refuse to take their medication

The protest steps of hunger striking Palestinian prisoners in the occupation’s jails escalated in line with their rejection of the Israeli occupation’s oppressive measures against them.

According to a statement issued by Hamas prisoners in the desert prison Negev on Friday, the administrative detainees in section (9), who suffer from chronic diseases, have refused to take their medicines as part of the escalation of their protest steps which started with a hunger strike on the Prisoners’ Day on April 17 with all the other factions (Fatah, Islamic Jihad and PFLP).

The statement revealed that on the Prisoners’ Day, the captives’ representatives handed their list of demands to the committee established by the Israeli prison service to negotiate with them.

They informed the committee that the only body authorized to negotiate an end to the hunger strike is the prisoners’ leadership in Nafha prison.

The hunger strikers’ statement also called on all Palestinians and all free people of the world to support the prisoners in their battle to regain their rights, asserting that in spite of the state of exhaustion and deteriorating health caused by the hunger strike launched 11 days ago, the prisoners’ will is still strong.

The Hamas section in Negev prison includes about 120 of the administrative prisoners, including a number of the movement’s leaders, MPs and ministers, in addition to many others who suffer from chronic diseases.
