Hamas urges the Islamic Summit to protect al-Aqsa

16CB9BD537 Hamas Movement asked the Islamic Summit, held today in Cairo, to immediately provide the urgent protection to Al-Aqsa Mosque and the city of Jerusalem.

Hamas stressed in a statement on Wednesday on the need to support the Jerusalemites by taking practical and direct political steps condemning the occupation and its flagrant violations against the Palestinian people and the Islamic and Christian sanctities.

It called for making an Arab and Islamic strategy that supports the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in resisting and confronting the Israeli schemes until they regain their inalienable national rights.

The movement called for economically and politically boycotting Israel, to force it to halt its attacks on the Arab territories in Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria.

It also demanded the Organization of Islamic Cooperation leaders to “regain the initiative and break the siege imposed on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip once and for all.”

The Islamic resistance movement urged the Islamic summit to activate the issue of Palestinian prisoners before the UN General Assembly and the international tribunals, and to pressure the occupation by all available means to stop its systematic violations against captives until their release, and to stop arresting Palestinian MPs and leaders.

Cairo hosts the twelfth Islamic Summit, which will last two days and will be held with the participation of 56 countries.
