Anti-Israeli demo held in New York City

Thousands of pro-Palestinian activists have poured to the streets of New York City to condemn Israeli attacks against civilians in the Gaza Strip.

The protesters lined Manhattan streets on Saturday and then marched into the United Nations headquarters.

The activists chanted, “Free, free Palestine!” and “Occupation is a crime!”

“What they’re doing is wrong,” a demonstrator was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. “I’m here to protest what’s going on in Gaza. What’s going on is wrong — bad things like killing children.”

“We are all Palestinians and because of the occupation there is no justice in Gaza,” another protester said.

The rally came one week after a similar demonstration took place in the city.

More demonstrations were held across the globe over the weekend, calling for an immediate halt to the Israeli bloodshed in the besieged enclave.

Over 1,900 people, including women, children and the elderly, have been killed in Israeli attacks against the civilians in Gaza since July 8. More than 9,800 people have been injured.

According to Gaza emergency services, some 450 children are among the victims of more than a month of Israeli aggression.

The Palestinian Interior Ministry says Israeli forces carried out 50 airstrikes, destroying three more mosques on Saturday.
