IRI strongly rejects Shahid’s report on Iran

Head of Judiciary Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani on Wednesday strongly rejected a report on Iran’s human rights by Ahmed Shahid as another scandal for the western governments.

He said in a meeting with senior officials of the Judiciary that currently, the human rights have been degraded in the western communities to the extent that the people of the entire world know that the western governments do not respect human rights.

‘If the western governments had respected human rights, they would not have kept silent on massacre of people in Bahrain, Afghanistan and other parts of the world,’ he said.

He said that the report on human rights in Iran released by UN human rights rapporteur Ahmed Shahid is ‘totally unfounded and full of lies’.

‘Unfortunately, the western governments especially the US are using the human rights as a pressure lever against independent states, whereas, Israel enjoys their full support in perpetrating state terrorism, war crimes and crimes against humanity.’

He said that the entire world have witnessed the US and European governments’ crimes against humanity in Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries and are watching closely how a US soldier kills 16 Afghan men, women and children, or how they attack wedding party or set afire the Muslims’ Holy Book.

‘They are of the view that human rights must be respected by other nations which have their own human rights principles and do not bow to tyranny and intimidation of the western governments.’

He said that Ahmed Shahid alleged that the lawsuits about Kahrizak prison have not been examined and the judge charged with wrongdoing enjoys immunity, whereas, the judge has been suspended and the Judiciary has examined the lawsuits and announced the sentences against those found guilty in Kahrizak case.

‘The report criticizes the Islamic law for arresting those blaspheming Great Prophet (PBUH) and Prophet Mohammad’s Infallible Household. Whereas, those questioning Holocaust are being detained in the western countries.’

He brushed aside Ahmed Shahid’s accusation that the 2009 presidential election was rigged, adding that it was another lie among a list of lies in the report.

Amoli Larijani said that the Judiciary has established Islamic Human Rights Commission monitoring accurate enforcement of human rights, adding that Iran will never yield to language of force and blatant accusations being leveled against it.
