Syria in Last 24 Hours: Terrorists Sustain Heavy Losses in Syrian Airstrikes in Lattakia Province

The aerial bombardments killed and wounded scores of terrorists in Lattakia province.

The Syrian army also inflicted heavy losses on the terrorist groups in other key regions across Syria.

Lattakia

The Syrian Air Force carried out fresh rounds of air raids on terrorists’ positions in Northern Lattakia, inflicting major losses and casualties on the militants.

The Syrian fighter jets bombed terrorists’ positions in Kabani, Jabal Kafr Sandou and Ba’arbaya in the mountainous regions of the province, inflicting dozens of casualties on the militants.

Terrorists’ bases and military vehicles were also badly damaged in the assault.

Idlib

A number of Fatah al-Sham (al-Nusra) Front members, including a senior field commander, were killed in drone attacks and bomb blasts across Idlib on Tuesday.

“An unknown drone attacked a vehicle of Fatah al-Sham in Wadi al-Nasim neighborhood in Idlib city, leaving the entire rebels in the vehicle dead, including a senior commander. Fatah al-Sham has admitted the loss, but purposefully kept silent about the identity of the slain commander,” local sources said.

“In Ma’arat al-Nu’aman, a number of terrorists were killed or wounded in al-Hamediyeh region in the blast of a truck loaded with explosives near their base,” the sources added.

“Several members of Fatah al-Sham were killed in the blast of their booby-trapped car near the entrance of the small town of Sanjar in Southeastern Idlib,” the sources went on to say.

A militant commander disclosed on Sunday that Fatah al-Sham Front and Saqour al-Sham engaged in serious dispute over taking control of a military base in Southern Idlib.

“Soghour al-Sham militants, who had recently captured a base of Jund al-Aqsa in Harsh Mosayebin region, did not agree with Fatah al-Sham’s demand to gain control over the newly-captured base,” the spokesman for Soghour al-Sham said.

“After hours of arguments, some of the militants from both sides used their guns and shot in the air several times. The situation is still critical near the base,” the sources added.

“We ourselves captured this base and we will not allow any other group to have it under control,” he underlined in several tweets.

Homs

Syrian Army troops and Air Force raided ISIL’s sites and positions in an energy-rich region in Eastern Homs, destroying a vast part of the terrorists’ military grid.

Early in the morning, the ISIL terrorists were grounded in their defense lines in al-Sha’er oilfield under the heavy air raids of the Syrian air force in the Eastern side of the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur).

Syrian army soldiers, for their part, stormed ISIL’s centers in al-Sha’er region, inflicting major damage on their sites and armored vehicles.

The Syrian warplanes also bombed ISIL’s gatherings in al-Sukhnah, al-Sawameh, Huweises, while the Syrian army men engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL along the roads connecting Huweises to Arak.

In the meantime, the Syrian army aircraft hit the positions of Fatah al-Sham Front (the newly-formed al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group previously known as the al-Nusra Front) in the Southern side of al-Rastan in Northern Homs.

Dara’a-Sweida

Syrian Army troops stormed the positions, sites and supply convoys of ISIL and Fatah al-Sham Front in the Southern provinces of Dara’a and Sweida, inflicting heavy losses on them.

Syrian military forces hit Fatah al-Sham’s strongholds near Balal Habashi Mosque, Northwest of the old customs region and al-Arba’een neighborhood in Dara’a al-Balad, claiming the lives of several militants and destroying their weapons and ammunition.

Terrorists’ positions in Tafas in Northwestern Dara’a also came under heavy attacks by the Syrian soldiers, destroying their base and depot of arms and munitions.

The army men also targeted an oil tanker of ISIL in Mashbak al-Wachyan region in Eastern Sweida, destroying the tanker and killing its guards.

The Syrian soldiers also repelled terrorists’ missile and rocket attacks on their positions in the village and airport of al-Tha’aleh in Western Sweida, blocking the militants’ forward move in the region.

Damascus

The Syrian Army and popular forces have taken back several farms, towns, villages and positions from Jeish al-Islam in Eastern Ghouta in recent weeks, and are preparing to take yet another major stride in completing the siege of Douma, military sources said Tuesday.

“Ending militancy in Damascus province as soon as possible stands atop the agenda of the Syrian army and its popular allies,” the sources said, “and that’s why the government forces’ operations in Eastern Ghouta have concentrated on the completion of the siege of Douma, the so-called capital of Jeish al-Islam terrorists in this region.”

“Jeish al-Islam’s positions in Tal al-Sawan, Tal Kurdi, Arbin, Harasta, Mesraba, Hamouriyeh, Beir Sawa, al-Reihan and al-Shifouniyeh are under very heavy attacks by the Syrian government forces’ missile and mortar units to encircle Douma step by step,” the sources said.

“Al-Reihan and al-Shifouniyeh are the scenes of tough battles between the army and militants,” the sources added.

Aleppo

Syrian Army soldiers and popular forces continued to raid Jeish al-Fatah’s positions in Salahuddin district on Tuesday, and drove them out of several strongholds.

“The Syrian government forces, in their Tuesday round of attacks, inflicted major casualties on the Jeish al-Fatah terrorist coalition and took control over more buildings and a stronghold near Khalid Bin Walid Mosque,” the sources said, adding, “With the seizure of the new positions in Salahuddin, the government forces overlook al-Ameriyeh neighborhood from the Eastern direction.”

“Some 10 terrorists were killed in the battle in the region and tens more were wounded. Jeish al-Fatah pulled the remaining pockets of its forces back from the battlefield after sustaining an increasing number of casualties,” the sources said.

“In the meantime, fierce clashes are underway between the Syrian soldiers and militants in Suleiman al-Halabi, Old Alep and the road connecting al-Jandoul square to Ba’eidin square Northeast of Aleppo city,” they went on to say.

Reports from Aleppo said earlier on Tuesday that at least 36 members of the terrorist groups were killed and 42 more were wounded in the Syrian Army troops’ assaults on their positions in the districts North and Southeast of the city.

The Syrian army men’s offensives on the concentration centers and gatherings of Fatah al-Sham Front in Sheikh Saeed in Southeastern Aleppo and in al-Sharafeh and al-Oweijeh in the Northeast left 7 terrorists dead and 42 others wounded.

The body of Fatah al-Sham’s senior commander, Abu Awash, has been identified among the dead.

The Syrian troops and their popular allies targeted the strongholds of Jeish al-Fatah in al-Mojbal, al-Brij and Hananou, leaving at least 29 terrorists dead.

Hama

Syrian Army soldiers fended off the terrorist groups’ offensives on government positions in two key towns, inflicting major losses and heavy casualties on them.

Terrorists, with at least 20 heavy machinegun-equipped vehicles, stormed the Syrian government forces’ strongholds in the newly captured town of Ma’ardes, but failed to prevail over the government defense lines.

At least 20 militants were killed in the clashes, the army said, adding that five vehicles of the militants were also destroyed.

Other units of the Syrian army repelled terrorists’ attack on their positions in Ma’an and forced them to retreat.
