Hezbollah SG describes General Soleimani as a figure of strategic and intellectual leadership
The Secretary General of Lebanon's Hezbollah resistance movement has praised the late Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani of Iran for his exceptional leadership. Soleimani, renowned for his anti-terrorism efforts, was lauded for his strategic acumen and intellectual prowess.
Sheikh Naim Qassem delivered a televised address on Saturday evening during a ceremony commemorating the fifth anniversary of the martyrdom of the esteemed commander, along with his Iraqi associate, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis. The two figures were killed in a US drone strike near Baghdad International Airport in January 2020.
The leader of Hezbollah stated that Martyr Soleimani served as the chief commander of the Axis of Resistance, effectively thwarting U.S. strategies in the West Asia region. He also played a pivotal role in revitalizing the Palestinian cause by supporting armed resistance efforts in the occupied territories.
He highlighted that the deceased Iranian anti-terror commander had unveiled the United States’ strategies and plans, particularly in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Sheikh Qassem stated that General Soleimani actively combated the Daesh Takfiri terrorist organization and countered Israeli strategies aimed at asserting regional dominance.
He emphasized the significant role played by Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the former deputy chairman of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), in establishing the force amid the presence of US occupation forces and in backing Palestine.
In another segment of his address, Sheikh Qassem asserted that Israel sought a ceasefire due to the formidable capabilities demonstrated by the Hezbollah resistance movement.
The official stated that Lebanon is confronting an unprecedented level of aggression, with Hezbollah maintaining a resolute stance and directly challenging the military capabilities of the Israeli regime.
Sheikh Qassem reaffirmed his commitment to opposing Israel, asserting that his resistance group possesses significant strength and considerable potential.
