Hezbollah strikes ‘israeli’ positions following the regime’s assaults on Bekaa that left eight injured
Tensions between israel and Hezbollah have intensified as the Lebanese resistance group attacked Israeli military sites in retaliation for overnight strikes by Israel on Lebanon’s Bekaa region.
Hezbollah initiated heavy rocket attacks on Israeli military positions in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights and additional targets in the upper Galilee region.
In a declaration, the Lebanese organization claimed responsibility for attacking the Israeli army’s Golan 210th Division headquarters located in the Nafah barracks, along with the artillery and armored regiments’ headquarters of the same division situated in the Yarden barracks.
On Monday evening, Israeli airstrikes hit Hezbollah’s arms depots in Lebanon’s eastern Bekaa Valley, as well as multiple locations in southern Lebanon.
Lebanon’s health ministry reported that eight civilians were injured, including six Lebanese citizens and two Syrian children.
Video from the scene showed a large fire and multiple explosions occurring following the initial impact.
Lebanese state media reported that a minimum of three Israeli airstrikes targeted towns in Lebanon’s Baalbek District on Monday.
Additionally, the Israeli government asserted that its fighter jets had demolished Hezbollah rocket launchers located in Al Mansouri and Taybeh in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli strikes on Monday took place just hours after Hezbollah launched new retaliatory airstrikes against Israeli forces stationed in the northern region of the occupied Palestinian territories, resulting in multiple casualties and injuries among the regime’s soldiers.
In their Monday statement, the movement similarly mentioned that the recent retaliation occurred “in solidarity with our resolute Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and dignified resistance.”
For almost three weeks, the area has been on heightened alert for a potential increase in violence after Israel assassinated Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and Hezbollah’s military commander, Fuad Shukr. This has led to promises of retribution from both Iran and Hezbollah.
Lebanon has lodged a fresh complaint with the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) regarding the ongoing infringements by the Israeli regime.
The complaint mentioned that Israel is instilling fear and panic among all civilians, with a significant impact on the most vulnerable segments of society, including children.
Since October 7, the Israeli government has been carrying out almost daily assaults on southern Lebanon, coinciding with its initiation of a devastating war on the Gaza Strip.
Reports indicate that since the beginning of the clashes last year, a minimum of 622 individuals have lost their lives in Lebanon.
