A Bahraini activist disclosed that the Al Khalifa regime has hired mercenaries from foreign countries to suppress people’s peaceful protests in the tiny Persian Gulf country.

“Some Bahraini officials have had several visits to Pakistan, Indonesia and Malaysia asking them to dispatch weapons and manpower to help Manama with the crackdown on popular protests,” Adel Ebrahim told FNA on Monday.

The Bahraini activist noted that the Al Saud regime has also called on Pakistan and Malaysia to gather support for its military forces deployed in Bahrain.

“The Al Khalifa regime still continues its suppression of a nation who wants equality, social justice and its righteous rights,” Ebrahim said, adding, “The Bahraini nation will not surrender to the Al Khalifa regime’s heavy-handed tactics.”

Anti-government protesters have been holding peaceful demonstrations across Bahrain since mid-February 2011, calling for an end to the al-Khalifa dynasty.

Violence against the defenseless people escalated after a Saudi-led conglomerate of police, security and military forces from the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) member states – Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar – were dispatched to the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom on March 2011, to help Manama crack down on peaceful protestors.

So far, hundreds of protesters have been killed, hundreds have gone missing and thousands of others have been injured.
